Just Breathe

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge

Sit, Be Silent, and Just Breathe.

So often moments pass us by and we allow them to brush us aside for as the saying goes, doesn't time love to fly. Be still and know that he is God, the reminder we need to pause our jaws . To stop and take a second to think, to tune out the sound of the world that surrounds and listen to the voice that from heavens gates it originates. To halt the influence of popular thought and focus on the one who falters not. To listen to the still small voice that calmly states…

Be Still, Be Silent, and Just Breathe.

Let’s talk about the way we speak, the last conversation you used to communicate! Did you pay attention to the tone? Or did you use it to make them feel alone? Did you give any thought to the words that you used, or did you chose from the ones pocketed for days of rue. Have you given any thought to the words that you say, the very ones you are using todisseminate? Are they as calming as “peace be still” or do they ensure that no one will? The words you speak hold they same power as the ones that calmed that crazed sea but do you use them to do the same when you talk to someone like me?

Be Calm, Be Silent, and Just Breathe.

Steel upon steel the blade has been sharped to a point, the sword of your tongue sharper than any man made knife. Used to separate man from life it severs the bond of brothers with a single strike. Fractions of those who were once like families torn apart and left alone in the dark. The wounds inflicted are of another worlds pain the traumas dealt require more than any man can repay.

Be Kind, Be Silent, and Just Breathe.

When differences align and harmony achieved those who were once strangers have agreed to disagree. Peace is found for a moment of time and chorus of song sweeps far and wide.  But in a fraction of a moment with a misplaced remark all is lost and the choir of song is thrown off its course. No one wishes to communicate, to seek to understand the other , to meet where they once stood. Although many things seem to be set in place “for such a time as this”, the songstress refuses to sing her tune, as hushed utterances can be heard. And thus the opera of a this new born bond is abandoned as quickly as it was once heard. From the choral, in the cacophony of confusion a simple plea arises…

Be Patient, Be Silent, and Just Breathe.

Who’s lives matter? What do I stand for or do I sit for this? Is there a right and a wrong or do I live for what the world calls ‘um? Do I bear my own cross or blame those who carved it? Should I cast others aside for my own gain or fall with them for the sake of a groups name? Do I truly believe in the cause I fight for or do I believe that I am obligated to be a part of more?

Be Different, Be True, and Just Breathe

The World is feeling the pangs of giving birth, screaming from the pain caused by the strain of sins curse. Peace has become scarce while fear is no longer a farce and even the inhabitants are beginning to feel that there has been a change. We may call it progress but the reality is our minds are disturbed while our hearts are perturbed . As the world finds itself drowning in the garble of words, more questions arise then answers are heard. But what should we say? What words do we provide to those who are divided and hurt by the company we supply? What words will we give standing in front of the courts when they demand to know the nature of our discourse? What words shall we use to calm the storms or to stir up the nations who were called not to conform? We must walk the thin line of divisional care! So what shall we say to those who are here, demanding we give into what they feel is right for us?

I shall not give you the answer, for the Word has its own power, for the Word became flesh and for each of us the call we have does vary. But these things shall still ring true…

Sit,  Be Still, Be Calm, Be Kind, Be Patient, Be Different, Be True, Above all turn your words into the incense that reaches heavens throne. Let your words tell your father the pain your heart feels and give him the questions that are from left field. Give him the chance to be your words and when you learn to Be Silent you might be surprised to learn that the last of these comes as naturally, as well… and Just Breathe!
